At the same time the current CSRS employee were allowed to invest into the TSP. I won’t go into why the Government changed its retirement program from CSRS to FERS because it is lengthy to explain. The Federal Government should not open the TSP Program to Non-Federal employee’s but should entice the Financial Industry to have saving plans equivalent to the TSP. There are many programs currently on the books, that employees could invest into, “if they choose to” , that would help in Retirement besides Social Security. I think fixing what were currently have is more important than adding additional programs for an individual’s retirement savings.
